I'm not a tree expert, but if your trees are that tall, which seems really tall for a chokecherry, are they possibly at the end of their natural lifespan? Did you plant them? Do you know how old they are? Chokecherry trees don't survive as long as many trees.

If you know what type of chokecherry you have, it may help the people here who have more tree knowledge than I, determine why you're losing your trees.

hi ..thanks for getting back ..i did not plant them. all are on old farmland ..they are all about 30-40 years old ..and yes i was told that they have a life of about 45 years ..maybe they are quitting!!
--it's difficult to tell the difference between the 3 cherry trees in the book, but the black cherry sure fits the height, bark, leaves and fruit ..anyway there are probably 18-20 which are in the death throws .
