mine looked the same this year I hope to retake a picture if we can dry out long enough to pick a good fig.they all seem to be wanting to split about 2 weeks before 100% rpe so i have to pick at a somewhat meaty stage. We've gotten rain every single day for 3 weeks straight. Living in SC you appreciate raiin because of it's absences during the summer into fall, but WTF! I'm about to have my sons start building an ark down here!!!! peters honey does get better I promise, and the inside will have a golden jelly look when fully ripe. the fig will wrinkle a tad then you'll know it's ready. It's a great fig, it's just not a good fig for rainy spots of the US.
