Found More Plants!

Well, I went and checked out where people are throwing their yard waste today and found the following growing; Centaurea montana, Thymus pulegioides, Asiatic lilies, Clover with burgundy leaves, Bearded Iris, and mentha gentilis. Plus a couple of other things that I'm not positive if they are keepers or not. They went into a safe bed where I can watch them and see what they do. I think I'll keep checking those types of spots and you never know what I'll find. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until next year to see what colour the Irises are. :(

Ok Ok that does it....I paid a fortune for most of my plants......and here you are building this great garden at the perfect price!!! Now why didn't I think of that. Hmmmm

ok waiting patiently to see what color the bearded iris are and the asiatic lilies LOL...Don't ya hate it when you have to wait a whole season?

I am waiting for my compost to arrive....maybe this weekend.....yippee. Then the hard work part of the new garden in the front will be done.....then just the planting before fall. That part is going to be fun! :-)

I am taking pics as we progress with this project.

I live in a small town where lots of people just drive 5-10 minutes down one of the close logging roads and empty out the yard waste from the back of their trucks. I have now started driving down all these roads keeping my eyes open for piles of branches, sod or dirt. Things that don't really belong. Then I get out and take a close look at all the foliage and see what I reconize and what I don't. Plus all my neighbours on my street dump their yard waste across the road since it is a treed embankment. I think it might be time to have a look and see what else is there besides grass clippings. Last year there were sunflowers growing. Oh, I forgot I also found the other day what might be a daylily and another yarrow. It looks like it is a different colour than white, just waiting to see whether or not it will get pulled.

The key to this is when you find the spots where people are dumping, you have to keep going back, sometimes it might only be the flowers you notice. At this time of year you wouldn't see tulips if someone had accidently dumped them with dirt. I'm checking my spots about every week or two right now. Plus I noticed what might be nice compost from leaves there. Do you think it is safe to use it? Or might there be chemicals on them still?
