Yes it can be used.
Peletized lime act faster than granular.
Granular works slowelly in a long period of time.
That is why is prefered+ it doesn't cake like Pelletized do when watered.
Any,of this 2 will do.

Now I am getting more and more confused. I just found a bunch of papers from the now extinct Belleclare Nursery.
On the Page titled DoÂs & DonÂts:
#4 states: "Never add granular lime on top of old granular lime."
#5 states: "Never use reg. POWDER LIME or PELLETIZED LIME on fig trees."

Belleclare refers t0o the advice that they give of putting 1 inche in top.
If you have acidic soil you add limestone as prescribed on the Package and not what someone say.
And you do not use lime.
You use limestone.

I've seen the responses that suggest we use limestone chips instead of powdered or granular limestone, to buffer acidic soil. I went to garden centers, Home Depot, Lowes, and mulch/stone centers and none of these places knew what I was talking about. But all of these places sell bags of small, white, dusty, "marble chips". I tested these marble chips and I believe these are actually limestone chips. If you drop these chips into vinegar, the chips effervesce and do neutralize the acid. So the chips labeled as "marble chips" will buffer acidic soils.
