Figs need lots of water when they are young. I have a 3 yr old in a clay pot and when it is bearing, like now, I have to soak it every day. Are the leaves limp?

You don't mention where you are. In a humid environment, brown spots usually means leaf rust. You can treat with a copper spray or do nothing (which is what I usually do).

If, by chance, you bought your tree from a nursery in the Houston area, you might want to check the roots for nematodes.

I find the younger trees, more so if they are in pots that some shade helps. Good watering & fertilizer program a bonus. I like compost.
