I bought a 1st year stella in the spring that originated in Oregon from a local nursery. I wasn't expecting anything of it this year but it shot out 3 or 4 figs rather late, the largest of which is 2 inches long at present. They are long and thin. The plant looks much like Brunswick to me, but the leaf lobes seem thinner, leaves are darker green, and the figs are still more eccentric (ie more elliptical) in shape. My impression is that it is a close cousin to Brunswick with more pronounced pigment (darker skin and redder pulp) but I have yet to see mature fruit either in picture or in person. Most descriptions indicate the fig is very large with dark purple skin and red-purple pulp.

I bought one from One Green World this year, and it had one fruit, which I almost missed. It was a little beyond ripe when I found it, but here are tghe pictures anyway. Very large fig. Obviously greenish with a red interior. Didn't attempt a taste test.

I have a rooting cutting that has two figs in advanced stage,looking very close to the picture above.Also the leafes are very close to Brunswick.
I got the cuttings from UCDAVIS under the name SAN Pietro.
The only difference is that my fig show fig mosaic while the one in picture above look very healthy.Regards

I know this is a very old thread..I was wandering around a nursery(west Salem Or.) with the owner of the nursery and we came upon a large Stella fig..(about Sept.) round plump green figs that tasted FABULOUS!! There was plenty on the tree. So I am curious about all the negative feed back I hear about this fig.

I'm looking for one. Had Brown Turkey..just ok flavor but productive and LARGE..I cut it down..too big for the spot. I have Violette de Bordeaux..productive but sets fruit a little late for PNW. Smallish rich tasty fruit. Looking for Stella. I thought it was exceptional!
