Timers that work

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable attach to the hose timer? I'll be away for the summer. We put in a new drip and micro-spray watering system for the front plantings. The one from the drip irrigation people lasted about a week.

I've filled most of the front yard with citrus trees and a variety of plants and shrubs. It's now mulched and when my computer gets back from the shop, and I gather up my nerve, I'll post some photos.

We get the most sun there, it's the dreaded western expsure.

    CB,
I have 4 of the Orbit 62024 water hose timers, I've tried the others and they failed, but these orbits (they have the dial settings) keep on working. The programmable ones with computers seem to always fail. Mine run on two AA batteries and the batteries last through the season. I'm not sure if you can find that same number orbit timer as these are over 4 years old now and they still run great. I also use a water pressure regulator between the hose bibb spigot and the timer. (it's the same water pressure regulator you find for Motor Homes & Campers)

I like the Orbit timer # 62001 by far the best. I think they stopped making it for some reason, but you can get them on Ebay.

    therealdeal,
That Orbit timer 62001 is digital and the lightning I get out here kills all the digital water timers, that's why I like the plain old dial setting Orbit 62024 better. Nothing to go wrong with it except for the batteries to run down. They are both available on eBay. Type: Orbit plus the number in your search on eBay to find them.

    Hi there,

I did an extensive search about six months ago and came to the conclusion that the Claber Logica 8444 was considered by most landscaping professionals to the most reliable of the group for simplicity and hookup to a garden hose setup. Having said that I bought two that I was going to hook to my veggie garden system when I decided to put in a full sprinkler valve controlled fertigation system, pictures to follow tonight on Florida GW. If you interested I'll mail these to you and you can let me know how they worked out for you...they're just sitting on a shelf in the closet.....

Tom, you are very kind. I think I have a Claber 8454, I'll have my husband check it out now that he's here. He loves that the booklet is written mostly in Italian or badly translated Italian.

I'll be in touch, and it may be a good thing to sell or swap.

And once again, great job on the new system. You make me tired!

I use 3 Orbit 62032 4 station timers for the garden plants and a singe station Orbit electronic timer that runs the rabbit watering system....no complaints and all of them have been running non stop for 2+ years. The batteries last about 5-6 months.

Not the 8454, the 8444 is a much dial design much less prone to failure. I didn't mean for the above post to be public, I went to your page and clicked on "Send me an email"...not sure how it ended up posting here. I'm sure the Orbit timers are great, I just have these and thought I'd make the offer.
