Ok so here is a Picture of what they call in Madeira Beberas or( Abeberas,Abebras,Bebras, Beberas ) this is just a list of the different spelling Used for the same fig.

Well im hoping that my uncle brings me back some cuttings from my great grandparents trees. One of my greatgrandfather has Black The other one has Green. The Black is hard to get too because its all bush now nobody has worked on the land for 15+ years. If I do get cuttings I will definately share.

Nelson I had the good fortune to visit Madeira Island the port of Funchal for a day on a Trans Atlantic Cruise. I must say it had to be one of the most picturesque ports We have ever seen, the people were very friendly.I just wish I was into growing figs at the time I would have tried to get cuttings from different places. One of the highlights was coming down the mountain in the wicker basket sled if you know what I'm talking about.

You know what Sal I was born in Madeira and have never gone on that sled but have watch people screem as they fly down the street definately looks like fun. If you ever go around the island there are allot of places where you can see fig trees off the road, I got lucky when I went in 2001 and got to eat lots of different figs, but I too was not into growing figs at the time.

I have been to a lot of amusement parks and do all the scary roller coasters but I must say that was scary, another couple ran into a moving car it was really wild.There was a big soccer game going on that day and most of the guys were in the cantina drinking wine or beer and so was I, as I needed to add some courage WE tried to pick the two most sober looking fellows. We watch the video at times and still laugh and scream. We would like to visit again and this time I will try to get cuttings.
