another rose question

When my Therese Bugnet produced a sucker, I dug it up and planted it. The location I chose was in full sun next to the driveway. Of course when I stuck it there it was little. Anyway the rose is extremely happy in its new location, much better than the parent. It is not floppy and gets watered regularly from the sump pump hose.

Here's the problem. It is next to the driveway! My husband is constantly complaining about it infringing on his driveway space. He's afraid it will scratch his truck. The question is, do I have to move it or can I keep it smaller by severe pruning. If I prune it right back will I get any bloom? I don't have lots of choice about location in my yard. I have a lot of shade. What do you think?

If you prune it back severely, it will not bloom, thatÂs because it blooms on old wood. But if you must prune to shape, do it after the first flush of flowers in the early summer, but keep in mind, donÂt remove too much that youÂll be snipping off your future flowers.

Therese really likes the sun, perhaps you could tell DH to move the driveway, just an suggestion ;)

Tell DH to trade his truck in on a Mini. Lots of room for all. If Therese gets bigger, he can get a bicycle. LOL.

Well after careful consideration I decided not to pass along your suggestions to DH, LOL, especially since I've pretty well taken over the entire yard with my garden.
In the interest of peace, I pruned off just a couple of offending branches for now, and will have to try and remember to prune it after it blooms next year. Thanks
