I have not seen that rose but would get it in a heartbeat if I seen it.

I may see if they will bare root and ship one to me.

Thanks for the tip! I visited their gardens last year and they were spectacular! I did not know that they were selling plants too. I have to look into this!

BTW, this rose is quite small - 0.5m x 0.7m! That is a great, compact size.

I went to Olds college last month and took a few photos. It has a very faint apricot fragrance. I was impressed by it's shiny foilage and low compact growth. It was disease free, however well spaced from any diseased roses. The more mature flowers were large. Non-self cleaning. The rose garden itself was in a very protected microclimate, in a sunny area surrounded by buildings.

This rose is definitely on my wishlist for next year. Time to plan the perfect spot!

Beautiful photos, prairie_northrose! I picked up Olds College at Canadian Tire (!) this year, after missing out on getting it from a nursery 2 years ago. Gorgeous flowers, pink-tinged orange buds open to orange flowers, and fade to shades of apricot, pink, and even a bit of yellow. Sweet fragrance, though not very very strong. If it's hardy after a Winnipeg winter (z3), it's a keeper..

Our CT doesn't carry Bylands roses. So no rose for me.. :-(.

Too bad! I have seen Bylands plants at Superstore and I remember they had Campfire when it was pretty new. If they have a garden centre near you, it might be worth checking out.

That orange color is gorgeous! Didn't see it at my local Canadian Tire, though maybe I missed it - can any of the ladies from Manitoba chime in and let me know which stores had it?

CT on Kenaston. I was there last week. They still had one. They are on sale and not the best looking. I bought three a few weeks before that were pretty sad looking, but are growing nicely with buds. One bloomed in the pot the day after I got it and was completely yellow, so hope it was just unhappy in its pot and not mislabeled! I got one last year at Arbo Flora, but I was there yesterday and didn't see any. HTH

Amazingly, 10 years after this thread was started, I finally found an Olds College Rose at CT tonight! I was not even looking for it and then I saw it.... so I snatched it up immediately! LOL! Now I will be busy planting this weekend! :-)
