I have Rudbeckia, Heliopsis, Morden mums, Michaelmas daisy (not blooming yet - which aster is it again?), Autumn Joy sedum, Galliarda, a tall purple aster, and roses blooming, along with pansies and snapdragons that are recovering from the heat, and sunflowers, glads, annual asters, California poppies, white alyssum, and petunias going strong until we get a harder frost.

There are so many plants still blooming in my garden, many times early blooming perennials will rebloom if you cut them back, I have some Delphiniums that are just starting to rebloom here.

I forgot to mention my heliopsis which has been really lovely this year.

There is also Dianthus amurensis that is putting on a good show right now too.

Othella Ligularia and obedient plant are several that have not been mentioned and are blooming now in my garden.

The only ones that haven't been mentioned yet, is hollyhocks and campanulas. Hollyhock 'The Watchman' is still blooming for me, as well as campanula 'Elizabeth'.

Oh, and veronica 'Giles Van Hees' is still going.

Not much to add to what's already been mentioned except garlic chives. Also for some reason my phlox 'David' is always a late bloomer. Dianthus knappi is still going strong. I also enjoy pearly everlastings in the fall.

I would like to add Limonium latifolium or sea lavender to my list. It's looking great right now.

My Dropmore Scarlet Honeysuckle vine, Polish Spirit Clematis, and Radar Love Clematis are all still blooming nicely. The Honeysuckle is providing food for one lone hummingbird that apparently doesn't know which direction south is - I saw it feeding again yesterday - kinda late for a hummingbird to still be hanging around here.

I'll also add Echinips ritro - mine are still quite blue and looking good. It's probably the first year I haven't cut them all off for drying so am really enjoying them.

Purple Bouquet Dianthus - this is one of those hybrid first year blooming sweet williams - is also still blooming nice and is still sending up new buds. I left last year's plants to winter in hopes that they would be perennial and they did in fact winter just fine. I really like this Dianthus for its long lasting big bloom clusters, stem sturdiness, and long bloom time. I started more plants this spring, and will probably do so again next spring. I'm hoping the plants will continue to winter.

The grasses are looking lovely, too. My new love affair is with Spartina pectinata. It'll be too aggressive for this location, me thinks, but I'll enjoy it for now.

I have dahlia dinner plate still blooming, Amaranth LLB, Koshia are a nice dark magenta, rudbeckia, petunia, asters, carnations.

LOL, when I first read the title "Fall Must-Haves" my first thought was "a greenhouse or sunroom would be nice" since I am still debating on what to take inside for the winter and have a lack of space.

As for blooming plants, my Jackmanii superba clematis is sort of going through another flush of bloom. Not as vigorous as the summer one of course, but still nice.

So, I have tried ampelopsis vine for three years now and my conclusion is, even though it survives and comes back from the snow cover, it needs a longer growing season to ripen the berries. Mine has lots of green berries still developing. The vine is sort of attractive but it's the berries I want.

My marigolds seem especially brilliant with the cool weather (yup, we are probably one of the few places that haven't had a major frost yet.)

Last year I grew a shorter hollyhock (I think it's was called "purple queeny" or something like that.) Anyways, last summer the plants didn't look good at all, had spider mites and were distorted looking. Even the blooms didn't seem to show up high above the foliage. Well one of the plants must have self-sowed because this year I noticed one plant growing across the yard in a partial shade spot. The plant is about 3 feet high and currently in it's prime for blooming - a nice surprise.
