What did I do wrong?

20 years ago

I can't remember who it was, but someone had mentioned how they had turned on the sprinkler when there was a possibility of frost over their corn. Last night I turned on the sprinkler over my dahlias to try and get them through the night as it is supose to be warming up. I wanted to put sheets over them but DH threatened to divorce me if I did. He thought it might turn us into either the weird couple up the street or make us look like white trash. Silly ideas I know. :) Anyways, it was an oscillating sprinkler that I had running and this is what happened;

Is this okay? Does all this ice help protect the plants? I have a feeling that they are ruined and will be all black by this afternoon. Oh, just so that you have the name of the Dahlia it is Park Princess. It finally opened yesterday.
