Hi Camaria, you would have much better luck to overwinter them in the ground covered with straw or other mulch rather than trying to keep them alive indoors during the winter. Mums are very proned to spider mites indoors.

Are they growing in a pot or are they in the ground right now?

They are in a pot right now, and we're getting some pretty chilly nights already!

Mums can take cool weather and some light frost, but once the top dies from a hard killing frost and if you have room in your garden, you could bury the pot and all into the ground at freeze up time, cover and mulch good and take it out in the spring.

Or you could take the plant out of the pot right now and plant in the garden asap, water good, cover with straw/peatmoss/chopped leaves at freeze up time.

One thing to consider, is that even if you successfully winter this mum, most of them need a LONGER growing season that what can be provided on the prairies. It will probably only be budding up when Jack Frost comes to visit next fall.
