Indian Summer

Looks like were in for a nice Indian Summer all week!

Perfect timing to get all those fall bulbs in and boosting those late Irises that I planted at the end of August.

Love this time of year when temps are like this!

How's the weather there?

Weather out here couldn't be more perfect. Wish my bulbs would arrive so I could plant them. Colors are beautiful . Have had nite frosts but no real killers. I love fall!!!

We're supposed to have nice weather this coming week too, but i hope that isn't it for the season. We deserve some decent weather after the last three lousy seasons! LOL

Like Bee, my fall bulbs haven't come either. I met someone in the post office this week with a box from Vesey's so i thought mine might come soon, but no. With my luck, they'll ship it out at the end of October - it's happened before. :/

Still waiting for my bulbs from Vesey's and Breck's. Last year Vesey's came in October. I thought it was me! First time ordering from Breck's but they haven't even sent my irises yet!
The weather is gorgeous here this weekend as Bee says. Calling for high twenties next week! So much for freezing off the wasps! Rotten critters!

Beautiful weather here too. I'm also waiting for my Vesey's order, but I'm not in a huge rush yet. I can't get into the beds I want to put the bulbs in without destroying annuals, and they still look so nice. The cold nights haven't done much damage yet.

We have had lovely weather for a few days now too. It looks like it will continue all week too. Which is great because I have lots to do outside yet.
I love the weather now,but I'll take the rains here any day considering what Texas just went through. My oldest son is working just north of Houston...and I was watching closely and sending him lots of text messages Saturday.

The outlook for this fall isn't too bad, Sharon. I'll certainly take it, that's for sure! Yesterday was a balmy 27C here and today is supposed to be 21C, and low 20's for the next few days....gotta love it! Although, it would be nice to get a bit of rain, as things are starting to dry out a bit too much. I finally was able to get that bed finished at the end of the lane, and having to haul water out there with my little wagon is starting to get to be a pain.....

It's about 23° here this afternoon. I went for a walk on my lunch break and worked up a bit of a sweat, even! I have lots left to do outside and i'll be hard pressed to get anything done this weekend as dh's sister and brother-in-law are visiting (not staying with us, thank goodness!) and we have family things to do. I'll really have to buckle down during the week!

Wow can you believe it, here it is the last day of September and its going to be +25C today!

It's +9° here today. Not warm at all. You wouldn't mind sending us some, would you? :>

Beautiful out. Yesterday a record temp since 1886. But you know it really should be a bit cooler by now for plants to start hardening off for winter. Even my body thermostat says it's just a bit much for this time of year. I know you'll all say I'm nuts++ !!!. Who knows maybe I am.

Marcia, I'm going to be greedy and keep it around for awhile ;)
Beegood, where do you live, in Alberta too?

I actually got sunburned yesterday. LOL

Should be great weather for are garage sale tomorrow till the weekend

We're supposed to have it in the teens here on the weekend - i'll take that! :)

It's so nice not only having this warm spell, but really having such a warm September. We've not yet had a hard frost - annuals are still blooming, even the frost tender marigolds. My hosta haven't been touched by frost yet. Indian Summer Rudbeckia in my back yard is looking just amazing.

The farmers around here are really smiling. It is/was perfect harvest weather - sunshine and no rain day after day. Looks like this weather will still last thru to Sunday.

Yesterday I cut myself a bouquet - yellow, pink & white snapdragons, pink & white carnations and white statice. Cut another for my mom - the last 3 glads, deep red snapdragons, purple statice and sea lavender. I'm not sure of the last time I was able to cut such a nice fresh looking mixture on the last day of September. What a treat!

Its another beautiful day here. I even bought a few more bulbs and planted them out....just because is was such a nice day. Okay that sounded like a good excuse...didn't it? :)

I still have rudbeckias, cones, roses and oriental lilies blooming. This is the longest season I have seen since I moved to this zone. I even got a few extra weeks of blooming dahlias and begonias this year. WOW!

Here it is Oct 24, a nice balmy day, +13C and no wind!

I wish that was coming here, Sharon, but it looks like our weather is going downhill for at least a week.I really haven't gotten a lot done this fall, just seems like i have no time. Fortunately i scored 8 bags of leaves from someone because i haven't had time to rake my own!

Marcia, the wind we had today otta blow some warm weather your way. ;)

They are predicting +16*C on Monday & Tuesday. I keep thinking I've got my trees watered in for winter and then we get another warm & **very** windy spell that sucks the moisture out of everything... I'm on my 3rd watering now. Thank goodness they're heavily mulched or things could be worse.

Funny thing - our longer range forecast changed overnight. Now, after a rainy/s***y Sunday and a cold Monday, things are supposed to go above normal for the rest of the week. +10° on Wednesday. It's supposed to be not too bad for Halloween, which is nice for the kids.

We're supposed to get some winds here too, so i'd better bag up the leaves asap, eh? LOL It happened to me a couple of years ago - we had this beautiful warm evening under a full or almost full moon in October, and i spent a whole evening in the dark raking leaves. The next day there were some big winds - you know the rest of the story! LOL

We have had the wind from hell all day today and it's still blowing. Even have a bit of snow on the ground. They ( who ever THEY are )said that it will clear up over nite and a sunny but cool day tomorrow. Our wind gusts were up to 90kph and felt worse. The average wind was around 60+ . Nice day eh?

Anyone find a bright blue paddling pool flying by in Sask or Man, let me know, its mine ;)

The wind has finally settled down, back to a beautiful balmy ++++++15°C today and tomorrow!

So that's where it came from. I'm keeping it for my puppies. Oops! Must be someone else's. This one is purple.
Wind gusts on Saturday here in the city were over 100 kliks! According to the weather network, the worst on record. Halloween body parts evrywhere and the deck covered in some of that white stuff!
Sunny and warm today but something tells me it ain't gonna stay that way.

Yesterday it reached up to ++++++8.0°C here! This is just awesome, but I do wish we will get some snow soon ;)

I agree I too wish it would snow. I'm getting tired of watering my evergreens. Besides winter just isn't the same without it. I'm not asking for a huge blizzard . Just enuff to brighten up things and get rid of the dirt and dust.

The summer and autumn of 2008 has been one of the best I can recall ... and I'm now NOT at all missing the slippery roads, snow and ice, sand, salt and grit that tracks into all the buildings and one's home. It's great when one can still be doing clean up work and such around the yard. It's only four more months till April ... that doesn't sound too bad eh? ... well, okay that's still 1/3 of a year away.

Though, I do hope the snow comes before any major cold snap, as it's really needed to protect the perennials etc.

I was thinking the same thing the other day, wow, we only have 4 months till things start blooming again!
