Candytuft is a spring blooming plant and should be cut back after flowering. I don't think anything is wrong with the plant but that it is going into dormancy

Actually the species I planted is supposed to bloom 2x..spring and late summer so I don't think it's quite ready for shearing back. Everything I've read says the evergreen foliage should stay that way through winter. The yellowing makes me think there's something wrong with my watering routine even though it hasn't changed. The books, etc. don't seem to agree on the amount of moisture it needs. Can you tell me what has worked for you? Thanks, I appreciate the tips.

Evergreen candytuft is a shrubby Mediterranean plant, I believe, so maybe it is just getting too much water and not enough sun.
