We had frost last night - the roofs and car windows were white this morning. Surprisingly, no damage to any plants. My gourds are still out in the garden & I checked them this afternoon - no frost damage. Sunflowers still look great, too.

Frost is predicted again tonight. It's clear as a bell out there and already really cold. I'll be surprised if the garden survives another one.

This morning surprised me. I checked the weather on the t.v. and it said it was zero degrees celcius. Fortunately, my part of town stayed at about plus 4. It seemed odd after the warm summer and the recent warm weather to be wearing a jacket today.

Tonight there's a frost warning and I did throw a few potted plants in the gazebo, cover the tomato and cucumber plant, etc. We still can get a couple of weeks of decent frost free weather so this definitely seems early. It's been such a warm summer and it sort of snuck up on us.

Sigh.... It was 0° yesterday but -3° this morning. Most of my containers are in Dh's tarp shed, but i never thought about taking cuttings from some of the impatiens that aren't in containers. Oh well, they're just aphid magnets anyway.... :( We covered the tomatoes last night, after picking all the ripe ones and yet another gallon bucket of cherry tomatoes, and we picked the cucumbers too.

It's supposed to be cold again tonight but milder after this. I know some of us said on another thread that we're kind of ready for fall cleanup, but of course i'm having mixed feelings. Never satisfied, eh?

Well I just got up and the Weather network says right now its -1...it sure is sunny though!
I have to uncover the tomatoes, but I am sure they'll be ok now that the sun is hitting them.

I agree, this -1 crap is a shock after last weekend's 30C for 3 days!

It's on it's way here too. The forecast is for rain & a high of +3 by Friday. I hope it's not white sticky "rain". Guess I'll have to get the tomatoes, cantelope, etc. picked this week. And the sunflowers and glads are so pretty right now!
