Blooms this week

Does everyone else stay as far behind on pictures as I do? The backlog is now over 400 - maybe this fall there will be time to catch up. Here are a few that have bloomed here over the past week.

Black Arrowhead (N. Roberts)is a long time favorite:

Claudine's Charm (Sellers) is another that has been here a long time and remains a favorite.

Dan Hansen's Cool Morning Mist:

Dr. Jerrold Corbett:

Hakuna Matata by gary Schaben is tall and cool looking:

This was first bloom on Luddy's Hyacinth Macaw. It doesn't much resemble the picture yet but was new last year. We'll see what happens by next year.

Kitty Wells is a big voluptuous bloom:

Man of Sorrows:

Mean Green by Judy Davisson has some of the best plant habits. I'm very high on this plant, and I usually don't even like oranges!

This is so long that others will go in another post!

Beautiful group of blooms hard to pick but Claudine's Charm, Hakuna Matata and Man of Sorrows are my favorites I'm a sucker for blues and purples.

They are all great. There is not a one that I do not like. I do love orange and love MEAN GREEN. But I am picking MAN OF SORROWS as my favorite. Such a great daylily! I can't imagine being 400 pictures behind on posting :-(

    Over 400 behind, wow!
Man of Sorrows and Dr. Jerrold Korbett are my very favorites. I really like the color of Hakuna Matata
I was also wondering why gary Schaben's first name is not capitalized (I noticed that in Daylily Journal too).

Back in 2007, the Schabens garden was on National tour, and I met gary then and first saw Hakuna Matata ( a seedling then ) blooming in his garden.Someone in MN told me that he doesn't capitalize his first name, and gave me an explanation but I can't remember the specifics.

Hakuna Matata and Man of Sorrows are my favorites, but I am so glad to see you posting the Hyacinth Macaw because I know I will add that one next year, and I like being able to see a real bloom in a real yard. (Although with all of your lovelies, your yard may not be a "real" one). Your shot of Claudine's Charm is beautiful, and I like Mean Green too...and I do like orange, so that's not surprising.

I like every one of them, but esp Hakuna Matata & Mean Green. Man of Sorrows looks great too.

Love them all too!!! Mean Green does look like quite the plant. Man of Sorrows is very pretty.

400 photos behind. Wow. But I think for me at least that is a good thing, if it means you'll continue to post them a few at a time we are likely to be able to continue to see your gorgeous flowers after daylily season has past.

CLAUDINE'S CHARM has totally charmed me, it is very lovely. HYACINTH MACAW looks like it will be very striking once it has settled in, the colors on it are just gorgeous. I too don't usually like oranges much, but MEAN GREEN has really caught my eye here.

CLAUDINE'S CHARM is one of my favorites here, and your photo is gorgeous. MAN SORROWS jumped right off the screen and grabbed me as did the clump shot of MEAN GREEN.

I got DR. JERROLD CORBETT as a bonus today. How do you think it would do in Zone 5b?

I honestly would have no clue how this would do in zone 5b as my climate is so much warmer than yours. But in my experience, some of those with the extremely fancy edges seem to get "hung up" when we have the occasional cool morning. I was just discussing that with a nearby friend in his garden today, as we had a cool AM and quite a few of his "frou-frou" edges were not opening well. I suspect that this might be a problem in cooler areas with cultivars that have these edges. Certainly, it would be more helpful to you if someone who has grown Dr. Jerrold Corbett in your exact zone could comment on its performance.

Mean Green is definitely my favorite in this group of beauties.
