Sharon you have the right part of the country just the wrong person 8-). Sierra is the one with fuschia experience. I would believe the unheated garage would be too cold for them also....savona

I'm just keeping mine in the house in a window, so the heat doesn't hit it directly. Although I've cut it back, it is trying to bloom again already. Last year I kept 6 that way, losing none of them. I even left for 6 weeks, during which time they didn't get watered. They still did fine (yeah, they don't look so great during the winter, but were awesome by the time it warmed up enough to put them out this spring). Both my garage and the crawl space are too warm for them--they keep trying to grow in the dark; as long as they're going to grow, I might as well keep them in the light. I've done this in the past, too. I've tried all the recommended methods, but I just don't have anyplace to keep them with a cool enough temp.
They don't need cold temperatures...I think you have them confused with some other plant.
