I had sprouts on most of mine as it ended up being almost a week between when I washed them off and when they went into their boxes of peat. You can pinch the sprouts off if you want or you could leave them. Or if you haven't divided them yet you could use the sprouts as a guide to divide it for next year. Just make certain that it is dark and cool where you are storing them, they should be fine next year.

loysan, in order to keep your dahlias dormant you'll be wanting to store then around 5 C. Do check on them from time to time for either rot or shriveling.

I use experiences like this to remind me that growing plants isn't as hard as I sometime make it out to be. Sometimes you can't even stop it! Put a bulb in the a cold dark place with no water, and next thing you know, it's sprouting!

If I could only get my flowers to grow as fast as my weeds do....
