Malta Black,yes,it is,the most reliable producing fig here despite very difficult climate.
It surpassed any good ones,I had before.
I can imagine,it is just as good if not more delicious in warmer dryer climates,trough south and southwest.
I did sell some cuttings on Ebay in the past 5 years ,and we should here about how is doing in better climates on the Fig Forums.

Malta Black is not Celeste.
Celeste could be a hybrid of Malta Black where Malta Black was the mother, and a caprifig was the father, according to Belleclare owner.
An inferior hybrid compared to the mother ,Malta Black.

Is Belleclare's Malta Black the same Malta Black from Malta which they are offering on Ebay?

The pics look similar, but it could still be something different since the seller most likely gave the name to a selection made in Malta.

You don't want to buy cuttings from overseas on eBay, they report the sales to the USDA who will most likely come to your house and confiscate them.
