Black Dragon is my favorite. This past summer I tried a look-a-like, but it just wasn't near as good. Can't remember the name, but it was a newer one. There was one that had 'moon' in it's name that I really liked too. It had purple leaves. Grew well in hanging pots or the ground and withstood the heat very well. I've had a few of the 'glass' ones in the past that I was very disappointed in. They didn't really start growing well until August.

Saturn is one of my favorites. It is a good grower, works well in pots or in the ground, and will take full sun (at least in zone 5). The brownish velvety color (with lime-ish center) also works well among perennials which have finished blooming.

I can also usually find this one locally. This year I bought it late for a dollar - just about my only "deal" this season :~)) - it was all leggy and I chopped it down to about 4 inches and it did beautifully after that.

Yes, Saturn has been a good grower for me too, it's wintering under the lights in my basement right now. I've never tried Black Dragon, I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it, maybe on coleus finder.

Here's another Coleus that I like really well. It is called Splash. The orange plant to the left is called Copper Plant, a type of acalypha.

Fishnet Stockings was one of my favorites.

I always liked the older variety of sun coleus 'Red Ruffles'. When my local nursery supply dried up a few years back I went on a search for something as good or better. I finally found a sun coleus I liked even more called 'Radiance'. It was a Singing Springs nursery introduction. A unique mail order nursery, Singing Springs shipped large plants at reasonable prices (including shipping). Alas it was too good to be true as they decided to get out of the mail order business this year. Fortunately I took a few cuttings of Radiance to tide me over.
