For all of us that are constantly confused by the "introduction" of new figs into the market and the dizzing array of names used to describe the same fig I offer the Urban Harvest selection of figs and other trees for their fruit tree sale in January. The one fig in particular is Mysteak (read mistake). This is a fig that was grown by the late Dr. Nagel a fruit tree enthusiast (he also has a seedless kumquat named for him in this sale) in the Houston area. The fig was purchased as one variety but ended up being an unidentified fig that was really good for the Houston area. Dr. Nagel called the fig "Mysteak" as a play on spelling mistake. New variety? Probably not, but interesting to watch a new variety (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) being introduced into the market. Yadda out.
