fushias

I have 2 fushias that we separated from one huge, overgrown, fushia last year. Once we separated it, it began to bloom. Over the winter we kept them in the garage, watered when dry, and cut back. This year they both have grown nicely except we have seen no buds or flowers yet. Any reason for this? How does one really care for a fushia? These are my 83-year-old mothers plants and she has a tendancy to overwater everything. I am hoping to be able to help her keep them beautiful to look at all summer. Is anyone able to help me do that with some really good fushia advice? such as watering, feeding, what does yellow leaves mean?, what insects might like it? Basically how can we keep these plants beautiful for my mom?
