Seedling blooms

Some pictures of a few of my two year old seedlings finally blooming:

These two are siblings, a cross of Wineberry Candy X Invitation To Immortality. They were taken in the evening, and I didn't get the chance to see them in the morning, but they both have plenty more buds to go. Both are FFOs.

Next ones the siblings are all very different, and a couple of them weren't pretty enough for me to show, so I'm posting only two. They are my cross of Purple Pinwheel X Schnickel Fritz.

These two photos are the same seedling. This seedling bloomed for the first time last year, and looks the same this year, but scapes are more stout.

This one is actually more purple, not so reddish as the camera picked up.

I'll post pictures of my other daylilies later on another thread. My plants have lots of scapes this year and hopefully will be a good blooming season. Many are about ready to burst into bloom. Must be all of the rain.

Hi Karen,
Good to see you posting again. I like both of your red seedlings, but I'm partial to the one with the watermark. The lavender one has pretty color and ruffles! Good luck with these seedlings!

Thanks! I have I think 19 seedlings of the cross of the first two seedlings which haven't bloomed yet, so I'm interested to see the variety the cross makes. I like the one with the water mark too. Of the second cross, the way it's looking I may only keep the lavender with ruffles, but I will most likely keep them one more year and see if they do anything different yet this year or next year. I wanted a double, and so far only one has tried to double on its first flower, the rest following, nada. I also have one year old seedlings sending scapes this year. I'm excited to see what those look like. I think it's more exciting to see what a seedling you have crossed is going to look like in bloom rather than a daylily you already know what it's supposed to look like because of the surprise factor--you just don't know what you're going to get!

Karen, your last line reminded me of Forrest Gump... like a box of chocolates, lol! I haven't crossed any yet that I followed through with, but it does sound exciting to see what the crosses will produce.

I like both of your reds, but my favorite is the pink/mauve seedling.

I like the color on that pale pinkish purple one, very pretty. And seedling one and two both have nice color, not sure which I like better.

Your first 4 photos are certainly a dramatic demonstration of how much difference the lighting can make in how colors look in a photo. Of those, I like the seedling in picture #1, 2, and 4, but not so much the one in picture #3. Yes, I do realize those are only 2 seedlings. But my favorite is the pale lavender one.
