Conadria Late

Here is my late Conadria Tree, 20 years old, on December 2, 2006. It was 70 today, but it is cooler at night, and they rot before they ripen this late in the season. Humidity has been as low as 3% recently, so excess moisture is not an issue.

Jon:I am wondering if you have DFIC-5,or DFIC-50.
George in NJ had DFIC-5 from me and thow in Second year gave him ripe fruits in SEPTEMBER,and they did not split or rot.
DFIC-50,is posted bi UCDAVIS as being aquired in 1900,but that could not be posible because IRA CONDIT, relised it in 1957,so it could not be.
I wonder if there are two distinct Conadria Cultivars.??????!!!!!!!!

    Mine is unknown.

Yes, that looks alot like my Conadria.
Late too. I still have some, although this is my first season with the tree, and I only gotten 3 out of 20 something to actually ripen. I still have some on the tree now.
But I tore them off to save the tree some energy.

Hope the ratio gets better with time.

If anything, mine has gotten later with time. It is about 20 years old now. I had a couple dozen splits (not uncommon), and the rest are rotting, due to the lateness of the season, so really didn't get any usable fruit this season.

Hi Jon:Just a sugestion to you:Get In CONTACT(EMAIL) to Richard Wats and see if his Conadria was late too.He was rating it his best producing fig year after year,in his 1991
    Article"Figs in southern California"!!!

pitangadiego, I wonder if it would help speed up the ripening if you thinned out the figs. Your tree looks loaded.

Never thinned any fig tree. Don't know that I have seen any literature suggesting that would be helpful.

Thining fruits doesn't do anything to HELP.
Thinning Branches to let more sun in Does Help mature the fruits faster.!!!!!

Again, harvested my (early) fist 2 Conadria today (Sept 17),
and the small tree is loaded with figs! (DFIC 05).
Other same day first main crop pickings:
2 Black Marseilles, 1 Improved Celeste and
1 Skardu Black (maybe breba? was wintered in GH,
other figlets are pea sized). BM and SB tested best,
    other 2 were OK too.
    George (NJ).

Congratulation George. Now i suspect even more that Jon'S Conadria is not identical with ours.
My Black Marseilles got about 6 ready but i did not take
    them out yet.
My Skardu black(what a surprise),has 2 getting swollen and i have high hopes now.
I also have some brunswick getting ripe still hanging on.
I leave them get ripe (As a begger robe),so i can fully enjoy the flavor. Thanks for reporting

Correction (man this is bad for me!):
Again, harvested my (early) fist 2 Conadria today (Sept 17),
= Again, harvested my (early) fist 2 Conadria today (Aug 17),

    Herman,
When your Skardu Black ripens, please note the skin color.
The one I had, was more like brown/purple-ish (similar to BT).
I had expected a darker color, maybe similar to VdB or Vista
Mission. The pulp color was on the reddish side and
    taste was very good.
