I noticed you have posted your question on a number of concrete floors.

You can have a concrete floor installed over a wood subfloor but there are considerations. The floor must be reinforced to take the additional weight. Their are many self leveling products available today that are designed to do this. Their abilities and costs can vary greatly.

Some claim to go down as thin as 1/4" and be stable. I feel better with at least 3/4" since I have not observed these other products after several years of use. More depth will be needed if you want to incorporate radiant heat tubing.

Some are considered a wear layer and can be stained and sealed. We are experimenting with a few different product lines but I still prefer covering these with a concrete micro topping to achieve the look and performance we want for our projects. (My company does not install self leveling underlayments. We do the decorative work over them.)
