last spring/summer I planted beans, tomatoes, carrots and lettuce. The beans did really well, the tomatoes so-so,the lettuce and carrots did not do anything! The carrot tops could be seen, but the carrots were less than 1/2" long! So, I left them. Yesterday curiosity made me pull up a couple of carrots. Lo and behold, I had some really nice carrots. Is this normal? I had expected to pick them last year?
