I have an ostrich and japanese painted fern and they are beautiful, but die back in the winter. My cinnamon fern, however, is lush all year...well this year at least. I can't remember if it died back last year.

Wayside has some beautiful ferns.

Northern maidenhair, Adiantum pedatum. I love the horizontal layers. Here's a nice picture:

You might also consider the evergreen Dryopteris erythrosora 'Brilliance'. An upright fern, with bronze and pinkish new growth that persist for some time before turning green. Close relatives are Dryopteris hondoensis and D. purpurascens.
Native evergreen upright ferns Dryopteris marginalis (Marginal Wood Fern) and D. ludoviciana (Florida Wood Fern) are also favorites of mine. The latter one is marginally hardy here and often becomes rather dishevelled during cold winters.
Since you have Vinca, another fern that might be suitable, is Arachnoides simplicior 'Variegata' (Variegated East Indies Holly Fern' with it's tall stipes and yellow center variegation in the fronds. It remains evergreen here during most winters.

Other favorites are Dryopteris affinis 'Cristata the King' and Dryopteris affinis 'Cristata Angustata', both cultivars of the Golden Scale Male Fern and Polystichum polyblepharum (Japanese Tassel Fern).

While they are deciduous, I like the Cinnamon, Royal, Lady and Maidenhair Ferns for their habit. The Cinnamon and Royal ferns also have attractive fertile fronds.

I won't recommend a very large statement fern, Hypolepis repens (Bramble Fern), but if you insist on growing it, I can furnish many, many, many starts!
