Nearly Native Nursery in Fayetteville (believe me, I know that's a ways from Canton) has it in their catalog, but it says "out of stock". But I'd call them and ask them 1) if they are planning to get more, and 2) do they know where you might be able to get it if they are not getting more soon.

And if you go there, let me know and perhaps we can go together because I have been wanting to go there for some time! And I'm near Canton. :) Good luck!

Did you check with Bannister Creek Nursery in Duluth?
They often have native Rhodies.

Has anyone found these on rescues?
They are documented in Cherokee, N Fulton & N Gwinnett counties, but I have never seen them at any rescue site I have visited.

I rescue plants in Cherokee and I've never heard of them being found. We find Mountain Laurel, but not evergreen Rhododendrons. I have one that I dug on a friend's property in Maggie Valley near Asheville, NC. It bloomed this year for the first time. I got another one as a mail order (small) plant and it's not blooming size yet.

If anyone calls Bannister Creek, do let us know what they say.

Thank you for your replies. I have had trouble getting in contact with nurseries because they all have limited winter hours. Bannister Creek is only open by appointment. I left a message with them, but they haven't returned my call.

Nearly Native has two young plants that were grown from seed and they are waiting until Spring to confirm that they are indeed Maximum. I spoke to Jim at Nearly Native. He is incredibly nice and very knowledgeable. Even if I don't buy the Rhody from him, I will definitely be a future customer of the nursery. Thank you for referring me there.

Twin Branch in Woodstock said that they might get them in the spring, but she had no information about sizes. The woman I talked to said that she had other customers looking for them, too.

I found a place in Cashiers, NC that has large plants, but the only way for me to get them here is to have them delivered for $325.

This is turning out to be a real challenge!
