Callaway Gardens Symposium

This is a grand symposium and a great place to be especially at this time of year.

I thought I would go to this and looked at the price which was $112 for everything: symposium, several meals and room for two nights. But this was based on double occupancy which would be a total of $224. I called Callaway and said it would only be me coming alone and they said that price would be $299. I was looking forward to seeing old friends and the Alabama contingency. But now I'm not going, maybe next year. I encourage everyone to attend this event. If you've never been you won't be sorry. Callaway will treat you like royalty. It's a quiet time of year and you can see everything with no crowds. It's a quality of life thing so go and tell them I recommended it. The deadline for registering is this Friday, Jan 13th.

Now Eddie, why would they charge you more as a single than if you paid for a double occupancy but only one person came?

$112 does seem like a very good price. $299 does not!

The $112 (per person) price quoted on their color brochure is for only ONE night's stay at the Inn(double occupancy) and is totally misleading. The package price for the 2 day program, which includes 2 nights at the Inn, meals(some box lunches), the Friday night reception(cash bar) is $299 based on double occupancy of the room. There are 3 Optional workshops on Friday(chose one) that cost an additional $75.
You apparently cannot choose to stay at a nearby Hotel/Motel at a much cheaper rate and register for only the lectures, as you once could. I refuse to be forced to accept their vastly overpriced accomodations. Sorry, but it's a pass for me.

I have the brochure in front of me and it says $112 includes accomodations for two nights based on double occupancy. Holton, the deadline is Friday - wear a clothespin on your nose or I can wear earplugs. esh, I guess they're trying to discourage one person using one room. It would have been cheaper for me to say there are two of us and just one show up than to say there will be just one. I don't know why it is but those are the prices quoted in the brochure and over the phone.
