Happy Easter Babies

I have a duck that had made a nest on the patio in an old pet carrier I left there for the free ranging hens to lay in. Easter morning I woke up to this :)

Took a quick photo while mom went out for a swim.

Quite a bunch of those little quackers, I have to use the incubator because none of my hens is a brooder. I just popped into the incubator another 40 plus eggs on Thursday. It's always fun seeing those little suckers hatch out each time. I see some beaks sticking out of your few unhatched eggs.

    HAPPY EASTER

Thank you. Yes, there were some little beaks still hatching. Every single one of her eggs hatched. I'm so proud of her. I can't believe they hatched on Easter morning. I was about to give up on her hatching eggs lol. She has been out there sitting on those eggs forever and I kinda lost track of how long it had been but it seemed like way tooo long.

Lou you want one of my broody hens? I think it must be the sulphur well water (haha) but they all keep going broody in pairs lately. A few weeks ago 2 of my key west hens hatched chicks on the same day. Today 2 other hens who were fighting over the same nest box hatched out chicks together..niether one of them wanted to give up thier spot so they are now sharing chicks.
    Todays double broodies:

Key west hens that hatched chicks the same day. At least they had the decency to have thier own nest boxes lol.

I am also hatching some chicks in my incubator. I have some more very rare Blue Birchen Marans hatching, blue wyandottes, and white orpingtons.

    SJN,
WOW, you seem to be running a bird farm out there. I don't nearly have as many birds as you do. I hatch out the eggs and swap the chicks for feed at my local feed barn. This way my eating eggs are free and I get the manure as a bonus for my garden. I just love all the color patterns on the different breeds of newly hatched chicks.

Haha bird farm sounds about right. I usually take them to the local chicken swaps. I have several different varieties of Marans that I keep for my 'serious flocks' and some general laying hens for eating eggs. If there are any mixed babies I sell them cheaply or give away. I wish you lived closer to me...we could swap eggs!!
Here are some of my marans eggs.

Gees, you wouldn't even have to color those for the easter basket!
