It is not remarkably drought tolerant, but it is extremely productive in heat. I grew it a few years in a row and really liked it.

Grew it last year and found it to be incredibly prolific. The fruits did not reduce in size as the plant aged (unlike every other hybrid/heirloom we grew). We have a good situation at our place in N. GA, as we are spring feed and our spring has been running strong through this drought. I watered, but only once a week. Anyway, the yellow pears went through light frosts 'til first hard freeze. We will try red pears as well this year. Yellow has a 'different' flavor-slightly lemony and a texture more like paste-types. We ate it in salads and combined it with other varieties and tomatillos (which I also grew for the first time) to make the best ever salsas! Of course we used our garden-grown peppers and cilantro :). I saved seed if you would like some.
