I had Bowles Mauve Wallflower in a perennial bed and loved it. It did great in 7B (metro Atlanta Georgia), and one of the nice things is that it is evergreen. It made it through ice/snow as well as direct hot sun and humidity with no problems. The usual garden pests like aphids and scale were not attracted to it. However, it lasts only a couple years before it sprawls and blooming is reduced. It is supposed to be very easy to propagate from stem cuttings. I tried several times but was unable to propagate ours which made me sad. If I see it at Lowes this year, I won't hesitate to buy and try again.

I grew it once in Athens, Georgia, from seed. It lasted about 2 years and I enjoyed it very much while it was alive, but somehow it's one of those plants that didn't inspire me to seek it out again in future years.

I'll have to think about it. I appreciate both replies. I don't need more plants that don't last long.

Well, I bought one...and plan on going back to get 2 more. Spring is here today and plants of all kinds jumped into my cart.
