Well, it's a positive sign that they are red and green ... versus crispy brown!

If they are going to bloom, you should already be able to see fat round buds on the tip of the branches.

I haven't had it happen before, but anything's possible!

Ok, I looked at the buds on the dogwoods and they do all seem to have bloom buds, both the 4 trees with leaves and the one without. So it evidently will bloom, just won't be as pretty with the leaves still on it.

Thought I'd post a follow up. The Dogwoods are all blooming now and are covered with small greenish/white blooms that will open to more mature white blooms in a few days I'm sure but the 4 trees still have all of their burgundy and green leaves. It will be interesting to see if the new leaves push off the old.
