I want one of these soooo bad..Where did you get it?..I thought I had a trade of one and it fell through....Judy

I know that this is going to sound strange, but I now have 4 Splish Splash plants, none of which were planned. I purchased a pack of "Hardy Geranium Seeds" from Seeds of Distinction at my local nursery last year. I believe I paid $5.00 for 10 seeds (OUCH)

I planted the seedlings in planters which I usually reserve for annuals, so I could baby them. I was thrilled that I actually succeeded growing my favorite perennial from seed. Little did I know that i would end up with 4 of 'em

They grew like crazy and bloomed the first year, but the flowers had NO petals...just the reproductive parts. At that time, i was very disappointed, thinking I had a bunch of undesirable seedlings that would never have petals. Near the end of the season, I planted them in the garden with the rest of my geraniums, so they get morning sun/afternoon shade. This year it appears I have 4 Splish Splash and 1 similar to a Johnson's Blue. If I recall correctly, the package listed a few seed varieties which included pratense. It also said it may contain "a few surprises", but NEVER mentioned Splish Splash.

2 years ago, I purchased a Splish Splash "root" from Von Bourgondien Bulbs (spelling?), and as of this writing, I havent seen anything but dandelions where that root was planted.

I didn't realize these could be seed grown, but since they are blooming now, I will keep my eyes open for seeds, in the hopes of sharing my luck with fellow geranium nuts. I will notify you by email if I am able to collect any seed and i will be happy to send you some

BTW my posting in Hortiplex is incorrect!

I erroneously listed these as being grown from a "root", but when I checked my notes, I actually planted the root on the other side of the yard from where I planted these seedlings.

The picture is DEFINITELY seed grown, not root grown!
