Planting a ladder -- need vine suggestions for shade

Hi there. I have an old wooden ladder with some clay pots and baskets on the steps that I am FINALLY going to plant lol. I'd like some suggestions on lovely foliage vines or plants that will drape over the edge somewhat to grow in the pots. They must tolerate shade.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Confederate Star Jassamine, Evergreen Clematis (armandii) and a couple other Clematis can tolerate a good deal of shade but, bloom best with moderate sun. Trumpet Vine also can take a good deal of shade. For small pots I would suggest Creeping Jenny or Variagated Vinca Major(these prefer to grow downward). The others may like a bit more room for root growth.

Codonopsis takes part shade - more than I would have thought. My experpeince with it is that it blooms more than once a season.

Ooh, creeping Jenny & the Vinca would probably look lovely there. I didn't think about those plants. Thanks vroomp.

I'll look into Codonopsis too Sugarhill -- that's one plant I'm actually not familiar with.
