This is a wonderful ground cover. You should be able to find it some where locally I would think. I think Pikes usually carries it. I am considering planting it on a very large scale in my front beds since I am in love with the way it looks in the small area I have it in my backyard. It is blooming right now and is gorgeous, but it remains attractive year round. The foliage becomes burgandy tinged in the winter. It is very easy to grow. I do recommend you cut it back after flowering, it keeps the plant fuller looking. I have mine where it gets some afternoon shade, but I have heard it does great in full sun. I had some in a bed with poor drainage and it kinda just sat there, but can't really blame it, at least it didn't die.

They won't let me pick them up. I can't see having then shipped 10 miles, so I'll keep my eyes open while out in the local nurseries.

Hi Garden Graphic Gal I agree with Kathy on this wonderful little ground cover. I have it planted in mostly full sun in my hillside perennial garden and I love it. The photo you posted is really the way it looks in bloom! The only downside is that rabbits seem to like it.
Give it good drainage and sun and you have a winner!
I think I got mine at the Home Depot.

Hi garden graphic girl. I'm right there with everyone else on this one -- fantastic ground cover with beautiful spring bloom. My suggestion is that you probably don't need to fork out $54 on a bunch of small plants unless you're looking to fill a large area instantly. I think I paid $4 for a gallon pot at Lowe's last year and that one clump has quadrupled in size in one growing season in full sun. Also you can root cuttings of it just about all spring/summer long and have tons of new plants in no time. The babies I rooted last summer are now as big as the parent plant was when I bought it.

Bottom line though is no matter where you get them from or how many you should be happy with this plant.

YES! a wonderful plant, and BLUE! not many blue plants out there. I bought mine at Gardensmith 2 yrs ago, but alas, Gardensmith is no more.

We have a HD opening in April within 5 miles of my home. I will be visiting it several times a week once it opens, hopfully I will find it there (among other things on my list). I live in the country and all the Lowes and HD's are 25-30 miles away.

squirrellypete did you root yours with rooting hormone or in water or what? How long before you planted them out? I also would like to propagate some more of this.

Hi Kathy. I took six cuttings (though I should have taken many more!) and dipped mine in rooting hormone first then stuck them in an outdoor sandbox to root and kept them moist. They took a little over 2 weeks to start rooting but they didn't develope alot of roots in the propagation box for me like many of other perennials do so I thought they needed more time in the box. Seems like I left them there over a month with not much further root progress so I went ahead and planted them in the garden expecting to lose some. I actually thought all but one of the babies had died in the summer heat but was pleasantly surprised this spring when they all came back and they must have nice big root systems now judging by their sizes. I'm going to try and take alot more cuttings this year so I'll have plenty to share at next year's spring swap.

This is very pretty. Just wondering if the deer will eat this. I need something is a bed that is colorful that the deer won't eat. It needs to be low growning. I have tried St. John's Wort but the deer chompped it to the ground. ALso the area is full sun.

I think that Ilikemud mentioned above that rabbits like it.
I went to 2 HD's and a HD Landscape center today and nobody had any :(

Hastings has this on sale this week for $4.97 (a gallon, I think).
