where do you live? I met a man at the Georgia Organics conference Saturday who does organic lawn maintenance, but he only services the area north of Atlanta. I think I wrote his name and number down somewhere if you're in that area. I was very impressed with him; he is also into planting edible landscaping.

I definitely live north of Atlanta. I live at the very bottom of Lake Lanier - I know, I know - no way to say that that doesn't sound funny. It sounds just as goofy if I say I live below Buford Dam. How about if I say I live in Sugar Hill?

Sugarhill, let me know if you find someone. I would be intersted in safer service. We cancelled ours this year because I felt too guilty, but I am driving my husband nuts second guessing everything we should do. We also have a HOA to deal with and they don't like weeds either.

I'll let everyone know if I find someone. So far I have talked to one guy who wanted my lawn business. He says he would be lying if he told me I could have a nice lawn without chemicals. It's his opinion that I'll just have to give up the idea of safety and go with pre-emergents and chemical fertilizers and weed killers. He might be right, but I'm going to keep looking and talking to yard people.
What about clover? I grew up in the mid-Atlantic (appropriate that I now live at the bottom of a lake) in the Middle Ages, and lots of people had clover lawns. Can you still grow those? Can you grow clover lawns in the South?
