Looks a lot like aphids from your photo. If they are, usually a good hard spray of water (forceful) will knock them to the ground and they should not be able to get back on your plant. Anybody else out there have any other identification?

Good call. I never even thought of them. I don't think I've ever seen white ones, and or maybe I did and just didn't know what they were? I went and checked...sure enough, the sticky residue was the true telltale.

Luckily, most of them seemed to die off from the cold last night, but I hit the rest with some water. Sure is hard on daylilies though---they hide down in the area where the leaves haven't unfolded yet. I actually wiped some out with my hands - eeeeewwww!
