I keep checking back to see if anyone's answered, and oh no nobody has! I have no idea, I only grow Mrs. Pollock as my one varieagated geranium, and the colours only became better outdoors versus indoors.

What kind of fancy zonals are you growing? Some geraniums require more than 4 hours of what I consider 'rich' sunlight to grow/bloom well. By 'rich', I don't give the same weight to the early morning and late evening sun as I do the middle of the day sun, because morning and evening sun is lower, and I don't believe the rays to be as enriching to a full sun plant as the timeframe of, for example, 10 am - 4 pm. Those six hours will grow better tomatoes (they are a good indicator of a full sun plant) then 6 hours from 8am ending at 2pm, or from 12 noon until 6pm. Heat will factor in also.

Hope that makes a bit of sense, though it may not be related to what you are experiencing.

Also, due to my location on the planet (just north of the Canada/Us border), maybe midday summer sun is higher up here in the north, compared to where you are (I"m previewing my message right now and can't see what you've indicated for your growing area, nor can I remember from initially reading your note).

I wish I knew. I think this must be the variety I am growing in a container, but they just marked it as 'tricolor'.

Mine is still heavily variegated. I haven't seen any problems in that area. Then again it gets well over 4 hours of sun. The sun it gets is the full midday sun (MN). Morning - buildings block the sun. Late Afternoon/ the high rise itself blocks the sun. In between hours the sun beats directly down on the plant.

Perhaps yours sported and reverted back to a solid color? I've seen and heard that happening with various variegated plants.

I agree with you on the lighting. Morning/ late afternoon sun â mid day sun.
