Learned today of the death of the Hydrangea Lady, Penny McHenry, founder of The American Hydrangea Society and avid gardner, that spent her last years with us promoting the use of these colorful shrubs in American gardens. Cause of death was not announced, but she had recently been diagnosed with cancer. A former Actress, she made the transition from stage to garden with the same grace. She will be missed. but not forgotten, as her name is a household word among Hydrangea aficionado's and the cultivar 'Penny Mac', was named in her honor.
