you want the fern-leaf, I forget its scientific name. you will need full sun, good air circulation, and reeely good drainage. might add some lime.

i have heard spanish lavender (stoechas?) will do okay here, but then you'd definitely need to add lime.

the english lavender takes too much effort for me. it doesn't like humidity at all, doesn't like it to stay hot for too long, and it gets root rot very easily in heavy clay.

personally I'd try the fern-leaf lavender and alternate it with artemisia and prostrate rosemary. that way if any one batch of plants gets grumpy, the other two should fill in.
