YEAH! What kind of hydrangeas?

Actually, I think I have about all of them! (all I could find, anyway). I went through a "phase" a couple of years ago :).
The H. Petiolaris and the natives did well, but the french mopheads and lacecaps turned completely black and mushy! The buds that I found were on either the "Blue Bird" or the "Blue Bounty." I get them mixed up, but they are both really vigorous growers for me, so I guess it shouldn't have been the surprise that it was.
Not on topic...but this is our third untimely freeze. They always seem to come just as something is reaching its height (jap. magnolias, azaleas, etc.) Who else wants to start this year over :).

Correction:
I should have said "Blue Bird" or "Blue Billow"...either way, they are both H. Serrata, lacecaps.

I have one premium hydrangea that is half ok (the half that was up against the house. So I may get some flowers on her. My Nikko Blue and Forever Pink (that's blue, BTW), are still in doubt. The leaves are fried, but I didn't have buds when the freeze hit so I'm not sure if they will bloom this year or not.

Meanwhile my dwarf gardenias are brown almost to the ground! Not all new growth either. I don't know what happened, but I'm going to lose over 1/2 of them on each one.

Yes my dwarf gardenias are looking awful as well. I guess I need to cut off all the brown but that is going to me 2/3 of the plant on some of them, that can't be good. My hydrangeas don't show any sign of new life yet.

I don't know why the gardenias are so bad. I suppose the new growth made them weaker or something.

My hydrangea Endless Summer looks dead. It was all green before the freeze. I haven't been happy with that one anyway. It's been an underachiever in my garden.

My hydrangea Tardiva is looking great! It was all leafed out before the freeze and didn't suffer at all. I didn't protect it in any way, and it is going strong.
