I'm farther south than Atlanta, and I am growing them for the first time for a friend (who lives in the Atlanta area) that homebrews. Based on Georgia heat, he recommended Cascade, Chinook, and Centennial. My rhizomes came about two weeks ago, and they are already coming up. Don't try to plant them in clay - it will kill the vines.

Good to know. I've ordered Cascade, and I'll be sure to plant them in a nice loamy dirt. I also am planting them for all my brewing friends, and for their calming medicinal uses. I've heard one can get sleepy even harvesting, they can be so potent. Here's hoping!
