I believe it blooms best on new wood. I prune my Lonicera every year. It's a good way to keep it in bounds.

I pruned mine too, so it would not take over the earth!!

What is the scientific name for this pink honeysuckle?

Since there are over 180 varieties of Lonicera it would be hard to say without a pic.

I hate to admit it, but I am ignorant about posting pics on this forum. I will look up the procedure some day. I really like looking at the ones that are posted. My pink honeysuckle has not spread at all. I moved to this house last Aug. but did nothing in the yard until this spring since I wanted to get the house right first. I will definitely prune after this growing season. I have another vine that I have not been able to identify yet but I think I will have to figure out how to post a picture. I think it might be autumn clematis.
