Am going to try 3 new cultivars of our native Heuchera villosa; 'Caramel', Citronelle' & 'Mocha', all intros from France & plant breeder Thierry Delabroye. They are named for their foliage color.
Found at Pikes in Tucker, were some very choice JM Bonsai's, with the rare cultivar 'Mikawa Yatsubusa' grafted onto very heavy rootstock of ½-1" caliper. I have the tree in my garden, but had to try a bonsai! They said the Alpharetta store would have them in stock tomorrow.
Just received 36 new Minature Hostas from Mini Plant Kingdom in CA. Still on my porch, waiting for the wind to subside. Too dangerous to work in a woodland garden.
Also, have received some Pink & Red? flowered Kousa Dogwoods that are waiting for the real Spring to arrive.
Bought Tomato plants, too.

I went to check out the Grower's Outlet the week before last and, even though they were out of the Franklinia Altamaha that I was after, I still managed to spend forty dollars! That place is a real find! But the deal of the day was at the Pikes eight miles toward town on 78...a fifteen gallon Elizabeth magnolia for sixty dollars! They had them on sale for fifty percent off and had only four left. Hooray, hooray, I have wanted one forever and it has yet to bloom this year so I have something to look forward to!

I love love love Lost Mountain Nursery. The women who own it are fabulous and although the gallon perennials are a trifle higher than other places they have such healthy plants!! Also, their annuals, ferns, etc are great. Oh yeah, and they have scented geraniums which I personally am in love with for their scent and bonsi like shapes. It's on Dallas Highway almost to the turn to Douglasville.

Twinkle.. thanks for the Northside posting.. Even though I live in east Cobb, we go up to the lake regularly and I will go there and check it out! :)

hvaen't been to Lost Mountain.. but have heard great things about it.. There are so many great places to go to!!

'Elizabeth' was a real find! Haven't seen those at local nurseries recently, since I purchased mine several years ago. It is now about 25' tall and completely bare! Had finished blooming and new foliage emerged before the deep freeze decended upon us. It suffered the most damage of any of my plants. A nearby Saucer Magnolia was also damaged, but many of the leaves appear to be recovering. Other Saucer and Star Magnolias were undamaged. Appears that only those 2 trees and about ½ of the Hydrangeas were affected.
Even some tender plants, Hostas, Ferns, Arisaema, Ligularias, etc., had no foliage damage. The remaining flowers on my Camellias also escaped.

You can spot some good bargains by looking for perennials that need to be divided. I just picked up one gallon heuchera for 8.75 and was able to divide it into three 1 gallon containers (and they aren't skimpy divisions either). 3 for the price of 1!
