A week in the 80's happened. I believe you may still have time to plant more from plants.

I'm not a big collards fan, but I plant kale and mustard, which are similar plants, in the fall and they do much better, i.e., they don't bolt, and usually make it through the winter. I haven't specifically grown collards, so take the comment with a grain of salt.

Do you usually plant in the spring and have better results?

As a side note, I get frustrated with the seed companies and stores selling things like spinach, brocolli, cilantro in April in the store. They all tend to bolt in the spring, and do better in the fall.

UrbanFarmer, you're right! I also plant collards in the fall and have them all winter and they tend to be much sweeter. Like girlgroupgirl mentioned, I'm sure it was the week of hot weather that caused them to bolt.

My collards which are bolting are winter planted collards. They've been OK, not the best even with the frosts. I tried a new variety this year. Bred for something other than taste :(
