I think you might be able get what you want by going to a tree service company. There are a lot of cherry(wild black) and hickory trees around Atlanta area. Apple tree is another thing may not be readily available at tree service companies.

I am not quite clear, nyc-sod. You have stated that you are in zone 6 , in New York? ? ? What do you mean by local source?

PS: There are different hickory wood. What kind you are looking for?

I have many branches of peach available. They are all slender - 1/2". BIG brush pile. Come and get them if you wish. I'm in Sugar Hill.

I think you should be able to open your profile and edit it.

As I mentioned before, there are a lot of hickory trees around here. Any tree service business should have some.
Unless you are looking for certain quality and type. I have some white hichory. But I think dark hickory is better for barbeque. I also have some wild black cherry wood. I can also cut some apple tree branches' It will be green though.I can also get some dark hickory, green branches.
