diatomaceous earth

don't ask me where you can get it from in Atlanta, but it works pretty well.

You get diatomaceous earth at the pool store or in the pool supply department.

Aside from the D. Earth, here's my list in order of past effectiveness:

- Stir them up daily. Take a stick and everytime you go past stir them up. Eventually they'll move on.
- Pour boiling water on them
- Sprinkle crushed eggshell over them
- Super soak the bed with water. Ants hate real wet ground.

All that said, raised beds are ant heaven. I have 16 raised beds of my own and the ants never go away completely. Anymore, if they are not fire ants I leave them alone as they seem to help keep some pests in line. Fire ants get my wrath. Left unchecked they grow so fast and so numerous they make it impossible to garden. Leaving some of the non-fire ants in the garden seems to deter the fire ants, as well.
