I'll third that! As always Glynis is the hostess with the mostest and hubby Richard was a pleasure too. Great people, great plants, great food and a beautiful day...can't ask for much more than that.

Hi Kathy, The vine cuttings were the wild color of Bignonia capreolata (yellow/maroon.) The easiest way to give you the muffin recipe would be by fax machine if you have one. If not (or if anyone else wanted it), I'll type it up for you.

I also brought home a mystery plant that I hope someone can give me some info on. It appears to be a salvia relative, was freshly dug from the garden and was in a white plastic Dekalb farmers market bag. If the person who brought it sees this....What is it?

Hi Danita:
I too would love that recipe.

The salvia was from me. It is blue salvia guarantica and is hardy here (despite reports from several nurseries). Gorgeous, will start blooming soon and then all summer to frost. I just deadhead the thin spires where flowers fall off. Hummers LOVe that thing!

Hi GGG...will your church be selling more tomato plants this year...I remember from past years you mentioning they sell heirlooms...Thankyou!!!

Bugsmom, we've been selling them like hot cakes. There are more though. We seeded more and on May 12th we are having another sale: 737 Woodland Ave at Ormewood, just off of Moreland. 10-2 loads of great stuff, including cannas and swamp sunflowers and chocolate mint thanks to all the fine gardeners here at GW!!

Just wanted to add my thanks. It was wonderful, as usual! The plants are always better than I expected; there's always something I've always wanted to try or have never seen before. And it's great to see gardening friends.

Susan's truckload of large pots were stupendous! What a gift! I felt like a child at Christmastime.

The food was all delicious; some people really outdid themselves.

The spring plant trade at Glynis and Richard's house, with friends from gardenweb, has become a tradition that I never want to miss. Many thanks to everyone for making it a perfect day!

I had the best time I've had in awhile. I got a few trades in, and had wonderful chats.

I'm hoping to make it to the fall trade, whenever and wherever that may be...

Bugsmom, you need to plant your heirloom seeds OUTDOORS, check out the wintersowing forum. You can do the same thing in the spring with annuals and have great success.

I'll save a swamp sunflower for you all.

I'm so glad you could all come, we loved having you. Richard was glad to meet you all. First year he hasn't had to have his nose in a book during the trade!!

Pam, I'm sorry about the bloodroot. I'm not sure how that happened as I had my promised items separated from my general trade items. Who knows??? Anyway, I'll definitely get one to you but I live far away from you so it might not be until the fall trade. If you're planning on being near the north-west side of Atlanta sometime let me know and maybe we can meet somewhere.

Kathy and GGG, here is the muffin recipe. I improvise on a basic recipe so some measurements are exact and some are a really close guess. :)

Banana Spelt Muffins:

2-1/4 cups freshly milled Spelt flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup honey (I use raw orange blossom honey)
3 mashed ripe or over-ripe bananas
1-1/2 tablespoons spice (I use a spice mix that contains cinnamon, ginger, all spice, and nutmeg)
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract

Measure dry ingredients into mixing bowl. Add liquids and mix until just well blended. Drop by spoonfuls into greased muffin tins(I prefer using cupcake liners instead of greasing.) Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Makes a dozen. (I often have a little bit of batter left over. If I try to use it all it tends to run over when baking.)
